One Thousand Suns
FutureForms
One Thousand Suns is a shaded canopy that CHORUS commissioned artist-architect duo FutureForms (Nataly Gattegno and Jason Kelly Johnson) to create for a previously overexposed gathering point. FutureForms chose to harness the sunlight by diffracting it through tinted apertures that cast dynamic shadows upon the ground and those gathering beneath. The translucent blue and yellow panels meld together into greenish pools of light, connecting its aura to the surrounding trees and landscaping.
One Thousand Suns creates a bridge between built and organic environments as it works with the elements to provide shade.
